About the Artist - Jim Shore

The Inspiration... As a young boy growing up in rural South Carolina, Jim Shore spent many hours with his grandmother, a master quilter, gaining an appreciation for what would later become his passion. His early fascination of design and color found in classic

American quilts has led him to become one of today's premier folks artists.
The Jim Shore Teddy Bear Collection combines his truly unique and inspirational use of color and folk art imagery with a collection based on his very own "much loved" boyhood teddy bear. Randomly placed patterns found on every creation not only add character and personality, but also assure that each teddy bear is a true one-of-a-kind creation.

The Teddy Bears... Inspired by his very own boyhood teddy bear, Jim was instrumental in the design and construction of each bear in the Collection. Each bear features button fastened arms and legs, antique felt covered eye, head sewn nose and mouth, fully jointed head and neck.

A special distressed plush was chosen to give each bear a worn and much loved look. Floppy arms and legs add to the antique look by the sparse use of poly-filing in the top and bottom of the arms and legs and extra beans in the bottom of each. All bears in the collection showcase Jim's original works of art. A custom fabric and printing process assures the integrity of Jim Shore's original artwork is replicated on each and every creation with special attention to color and detail. No Two Alike! A combination of randomly placed patterns with carefully placed scenes and designs tell a visual story. This unique design element makes each bear in the collection a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
