Because all of Rowe Pottery products are handmade, you will not find the consistency of machine made, production-line products. The size and shape of a piece will vary and the individual decorator who creates your piece will influence the pattern. Throwing ridges created by the potter's hand as it turns on the wheel, brown flashings created in the kiln where two pots "kiss" each other all add to the character and uniqueness of your particular piece. These are inherent traits of salt glaze stoneware and make each piece a joy for you and generations to come.

Early Americans cherished their stoneware for its durability in oven and hearth. Crocks, jars and jugs had to withstand daily use and perform equally well in extreme hot and cold temperatures. Today we enjoy authentic salt glaze for the same reasons.  It's 100% food safe and use it in the oven, microwave and is dishwasher safe.

Rowe Pottery is handmade with pride just like it was 150 years ago.

Historical 2016

Many communities are leading sustainability projects called "Farm to Table", referring to producing food locally and delivering the food to local consumers, all in an attempt to provide the freshest ingredients and to create a link from the local farmer to their community. The 2014 Historical Collection looked back at when life was simpler and Farm to Table was the way of life. View the entire 2014 Collection: 1/2 Gallon Milk Pitcher, Water Carrier, Butter Crock and Yelloware Bowl. The 2015 Historical Collection again focuses on the Farm to Table movement... the idea of growing our own vegetables, storing them and using them in our daily meals is a great way to live our lives simpler. Each piece in our collection takes this idea to heart. As vegetables are harvested from the garden they were often stored in pottery crocks, our 2 gallon vegetable keeper is a take on this tradition. Each crock is hand turned, then holes are cut into the base of the crock for airflow. Perfect for storing potatoes, carrots, onions or other root vegetables. Our 1 gallon jug is a traditional piece that customers love, a staple in the traditional kitchen for storing anything from vinegars to juices to your favorite liquor. Our final two pieces are perfect for the preparation of fresh vegetables and meats raised on the farm. Our 9" low baker is a classic historical form and will bake the perfect family casserole or shepherd's pie. Our yelloware piece is a less common form and would be hard to find in your average antique store, but we loved the detail. The covered bowl is a great addition to any kitchen for baking up your favorite recipes or serving from your harvest table

Colorization varies greatly due to the Salt Glaze style of firing the pottery - Colors from pale grey blue to dark brown are normal -

we can not speculate on what color you will receive - each is a limited edition - all will have brown and blue spots

Batter Jug

Our farm to table 2016 Historical Collection continues with our Batter Jug. Batter Jugs are much like pitchers and play a strong role in pottery history, often used to make and store bread and pancake batter. Our batter jug is functional with its wide spout and cupped lug handle on the backside to assist in pouring. Hand thrown and hand decorated in a beautiful floral pattern.

Chicken Waterer

Our farm to table 2016 Historical Collection starts with our Chicken Waterer. It is both fun and unique. It's 2 piece design allows you to fill the top with water, flip upside down into the shallow tray, this creates a vacuum suction allowing water to only rise to the level of the low openings in the top piece, refilling when water is consumed. It is beautiful as a display piece but functional for your urban backyard chickens. Hand thrown and hand decorated in a beautiful floral pattern
